Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"
Introduction
Saints of God, in a world filled with broken promises, shifting standards, and people who change their minds with the wind, we need to be reminded of one thing today: God does not lie, and God does not change. Men may fail us. Friends may forsake us. Leaders may disappoint us. But our God stands unshakable and unmovable in His Word. When Balaam stood to curse the children of Israel, God turned that curse into a blessing. Why? Because His Word cannot return void.
Isaiah 55:11
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
He is not a man that should lie, and if He said it, He will bring it to pass. This message is for someone who has been holding onto a promise. The devil may be whispering that God has forgotten you but let me remind you: He’s not a man that He should lie!
Background on the Text
In Numbers 22–24, Balak, king of Moab, feared Israel because of their victories. He hired Balaam, a prophet-for-hire, to curse Israel. But every time Balaam opened his mouth to curse, God put a blessing on his tongue. In the middle of this confrontation, Balaam declared this truth: “God is not a man, that he should lie.” This was God’s way of saying: “My covenant with Israel is sure. No curse can override My promise.”That same God is faithful to us today. If He spoke healing, deliverance, salvation, or blessing—no demon in hell, no man on earth, no situation in life can cancel it.
Key Points
1. God’s Character is Unchanging
Malachi 3:6
"For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."
God doesn’t flip-flop like man. His holiness, His justice, His love, and His promises remain the same from generation to generation. Because He doesn’t change, His mercy is still reaching, His grace is still sufficient, and His power is still strong enough to save.
2. God’s Promises Are Sure
2 Corinthians 1:20
"For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
If He said it, He will do it. If He spoke it, He will make it good. The world may make empty promises, but God’s promises are sealed by His Word and backed by His power. Just like Abraham, we must be “fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” (Romans 4:21).
3. God’s Power is Unstoppable
Jeremiah 32:27
"Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?"
Balak wanted Israel cursed, but God’s blessing overrode the enemy’s plan. When God sets His hand on your life, no curse, no devil, no weapon can prosper (Isaiah 54:17). His power to perform is as strong today as it was when He parted the Red Sea, fed Elijah, and raised Lazarus from the grave.
4. God’s Word is Eternal
Isaiah 40:8
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."
God’s Word outlasts kingdoms, governments, and human agendas. If God’s Word stood when spoken through Balaam, it still stands in your life today.
Plea to the Saints
Saints, hold on to God’s unchanging hand. Men will fail you, but God will never fail. Life may shift, but God’s Word stands firm. Whatever promise you are holding onto—whether healing, deliverance, salvation for your family, or strength for the journey—don’t let go.Remember, Balaam could not curse what God had blessed. And the devil cannot undo what God has decreed over your life.So stay faithful. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep walking. Because God is not a man, that He should lie!
Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised."
