Opening Scripture
Judges 2:10 (KJV)
“And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there
arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet
the works which he had done for Israel.”
Introduction
Saints, the most dangerous condition a people can fall into is not poverty,
not political conflict, not even war — it is to forget the God of the Bible.
In the days of Joshua, Israel saw God part the Jordan River, make the walls
of Jericho fall, and drive out their enemies. But just one generation later,
they forgot Him. They knew their crops, their battles, their neighbors — but
they no longer knew the God who had delivered them. And because they
forgot Him, they fell into idolatry, oppression, and judgment.
We are seeing the same thing today. Our nation has built technology, raised
economies, and advanced science — but we have forgotten the God of the
Bible. And when God is forgotten, evil rushes in to fill the void.
Background on the Text
The tragedy of Judges 2:10 is not just history — it is prophecy. A generation
arose that “knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for
Israel.”
- They forgot the miracles of deliverance — how God brought them out of
Egypt with a mighty hand.
- They forgot the miracles of provision — manna from heaven, water from a
rock.
- They forgot the miracles of victory — how God fought their battles when
they trusted Him.
When they forgot, they turned to idols. When they turned to idols, they lost
their identity. And when they lost their identity, they lost the blessing of God
and came under judgment.
Now look at our own generation:
- We have forgotten the God who blessed America’s foundations, who gave
us freedom to worship, and who protected us through wars and crises.
- We know our smartphones, our politics, and our social media — but we
don’t know the Scriptures.
- We’ve replaced the Bible with self-help, the altar with entertainment, and
conviction with comfort.
This is why violence and chaos are erupting in our streets. And God is
letting us see signs — trumpet blasts — to wake us up:
- Local Example (Charlotte, NC) – Just days ago, a man was brutally
stabbed on the light rail transit system. A public space became a crime
scene. Innocent riders were shaken, and the city is now investigating failures
in public safety. This shows what happens when sin is unchecked and life is
no longer valued.
- National Example – Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was
assassinated while speaking publicly. Political disagreement in America is
no longer being handled with debate or discussion — it is being handled
with violence. Experts warn of a “vicious spiral” of retaliation.
These events are not isolated. They are warnings. They reveal the fruit of a
nation that has forgotten God. Just as in Judges, when the people turned
from Him, chaos and judgment followed.
Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast
rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…”
Psalm 9:17 (KJV)
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”
Key Points
1. A Generation That Forgets God Forgets Who Is in Control
Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
When Israel forgot God, they thought they could control their own destiny
— but sin brought them down. Today’s generation thinks government,
science, and money are in control, but God alone holds the nations in His
hand.
2. Forgetting God Leads to Moral and Spiritual Decay
Romans 1:28 (KJV)
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a reprobate mind…”
The stabbing in Charlotte and the assassination of Charlie Kirk show what
happens when morality collapses. Life is no longer sacred. Violence
becomes normalized. When God is forgotten, chaos takes over.
3. The Church Must Take Notice and Wake Up
Ephesians 5:14 (KJV)
“Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light.”
Too many Christians are asleep while the culture burns. Like Israel in
Judges, the church cannot sit silently while a generation perishes in
darkness.
4. Repentance is the Only Way Back
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The path is not new. It is repentance, humility, prayer, and turning back to
God. There is no other way.
5. God Will Restore If We Remember Him Again
Joel 2:13 (KJV)
“And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD
your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great
kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.”
Even now, if this generation turns back, God is merciful. He will forgive,
heal, and restore.
Closing Plea
Beloved, the generation in Judges forgot God, and they reaped the judgment
of God. Our generation is walking the same path — turning schools, cities,
and politics into battlegrounds of violence and decay. The stabbing in
Charlotte… the assassination of Charlie Kirk… these are not random events.
They are holy warnings.
The question is not whether the world will repent — the question is whether
the church will wake up. If we do, revival can still come. If we don’t,
judgment is certain.
It’s time to repent. Time to remember the God of the Bible. Time to humble
ourselves, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. Saints, it is not too
late, but it is late. The trumpet is sounding. Will we answer?
Closing Scripture
Acts 3:19 (KJV)
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
